Stobie Larder at Boomerang Community Centre

The Stobie Larder was formed at the beginning of the pandemic through the work of the staff at Boomerang Community Centre.

They responded to the needs of their community and I was delighted to be able to assist such a great cause. The group applied for a Supporting Communities grant from the Asda Foundation and it was approved for £340. This was used to purchase tinned meats, biscuits, coffee, tea and UHT milk to bulk out the grocery deliveries they were making. The group were also successful a few months ago for a Feeding Communities grant that also helped with the deliveries. The groups funds were quickly dwindling and we managed to help with this.

One of the recipients had this to say: "I would have been lost without the the wonderful assistance from boomerang over this trying and prolonged period of time. I lost my daughter during the COVID 19 pandemic which was an extremely distressful and upsetting time for me. I would have been lost without the wonderful support from the community as I live on my own and have severe mobility problems and suffer from chronic pain. It has been a very challenging time and the delivery of the groceries has helped me out so much and has restored my faith in humanity. thank you to Asda for supporting this wonderful charity. Thank you all!"

This is why we do what we do, to get the support out to where it's needed most.
