As part of Asda's Fight Hunger Create Change campaign, our colleagues held a dress down weekend in exchange for a donation to our local food bank, the Fareham and Gosport Basics Bank. The food bank unfortunately had to close at the beginning of lockdown, but I was pleased to hear that they'd be reopening again on the 17th of September.
We had an amazing response from our colleagues and, along with a donation from our store community budget, we were delighted to hand over six full trollies to the food bank this week. Our efforts were even picked up by our local newspaper the same day!
Along with our deputy manager Chris and George manager (also called Chris) we handed the donation over to a Jennifer charity trustee and two volunteers, Juliet and Dennis. Local group Acts Of Kindness kindly took over duties when the food bank closed and they're continuing to support our community. Donations to the basics bank are being collected from our Gosport store and Acts of Kindness are collecting from our Fareham store.
