During December I presented eight Better Starts project lessons on the subject of wellbeing and food positivity to almost 250 children in the local area.
With assistance from Sinead, who's the community champion at Asda Newark, I visited West Grantham Academy where they learned about moods and emotions and were given activities to demonstrate how they may feel and strategies to consider on how to negative moods and emotions. They were introduced to a Wellbeing Journal and were all given a copy to complete and keep for themselves over the coming days.
I delivered the activities to the Holiday Activities and Food (HAF) program run by Grantham Leisure Centre on behalf of Lincolnshire County Council, and HAF events in Great Gonerby run by One Touch Football, at the Acorn Child Care Centre in Stamford and the Westfield Primary Academy, run by Premier Education. All events were well received and reports were that the children had fund as well as learned a lot. Pictured are children from the Bourne HAF event run by Premier Education, showing off the fruit kebabs they made and ate.
