It was such a pleasure to spend time with Maureen who runs the Dementia Support Groups, the volunteers and the service users themselves to find out how these groups have become such an important part of our community
The group who are supported by Headway Suffolk were nominated last year for Our Green Token Giving scheme
They were runners up in our customer vote and received £200 funding from The Asda Foundation to help with the cost of running the groups
Unfortunately Dementia will affect many of us at some point in our lives whether it is directly or indirectly, through family members or people we know
Community dementia groups such as these give welcome support to the carers and the cared for
After playing some bingo, a little go at curling and taking part in a quiz, we then sat down together for a fish and chips lunch
After lunch we were treated to some memorable songs and music from Mark who volunteers regularly to entertain the groups, then the singing and dancing began
An enjoyable afternoon was had by all
