Here's Emma Smart, a midwife, receiving a donation of small chocolate gifts for the Postnatal Ward at St James's Hospital.
Women can usually have partners staying around the clock to help them and to bond with new babies but due to Covid-19 restrictions nobody is allowed on the ward at all. The birth partners usually bring snacks and treats and provisions for babies for women who unexpectedly need to stay.
We gave the women a small chocolate gift as a gesture to show we are thinking of them. The donation was very much appreciated by the midwives trying to take care of these women in such a difficult time.
