Leeds South and East Foodbank saw a 45% increase in demand in the first month of lockdown and the demand continues.
The fantastic service they provide has not had a gap throughout the pandemic even though a great deal of their volunteers are over the age of 70, and have had to isolate themselves. Like all service providers, they have had to change their way of working in the warehouse, and the way in which they deliver. British gas employees whilst being on furlough have helped with the deliveries, however since employees are slowly returning to work, they are short on volunteers. If you can help please visit their website. Through our Fight Hunger Create Change initiative we're launching a month-long national food drive to support the food banks coping with a massive increase in people needing their help they've seen in the last few months.
