Bride Emma Bazely and groom Sam Dean tied the knot this weekend on a farm in the village of Southwick near Portsmouth – cutting a spectacular four-tier version of our cheesecake instead of a traditional wedding cake.
Sam, who works as a car audio technician, introduced Emma to our Extra Special Hand Finished White Chocolate and Raspberry Baked Cheesecake when they started dating back in 2015, and they both love it so much that they treated themselves to one a week on their “Cheesecake Tuesdays”.
Emma, who's a fundraiser for a breast cancer chaity, wrote to our bakery team to see if they could make some bigger versions of the small individual cheesecakes for their special day – and our colleagues were only too happy to help.
Emma said: “When we started planning the wedding, Sam was insistent that we had his favourite cheesecake on our big day, rather than a traditional wedding cake. So I contacted Asda in May and they agreed to gift us with four super-size versions of the dessert to look like a wedding cake. We’ve been so excited to mark our big day with our favourite pud and show our guests why we love them so much.”
Leona McDonald from our bakery team received Emma's request, and she and the team made Emma and Sam four giant versions of the cheesecake which colleagues delivered to the wedding reception. The cakes were hand made, using Belgian chocolate, British cream and Scottish raspberries.
Leona said: “We usually make cheesecakes to feed either a single person or six people, and so creating four cheesecakes to feed 20 people each was a challenge, but one that we were happy to take on!
“We're very proud of the cheesecake, but never imagined that someone would want one for their wedding! It was quite the compliment.
"I'm really glad we could help Emma and Sam and on behalf of everyone at Asda would like to wish them many congratulations.”
