Sam delivers 'amazing' £10,000 Christmas surprise to homeless charity

Our Llangefni store's community champion Sam Broadley delivered a surprise £10,000 Christmas grant to a local charity supporting homeless people.

Members of The Wallich were left open-mouthed by what they called an "amazing" donation from the Asda Foundation when Sam and general store manager Scott Roose presented it to them at their Christmas meal for service users.

The charity provides accommodation and support for homeless people in the area, as well as offering guidance and advice to people who are at risk of becoming homeless.

Jo Parry, project coordinator at the charity, said: "We've had a couple of grants from Asda before, but nothing like this. Our reaction was just shock – it was quite amazing.

"It's brilliant timing at Christmas, and it was nice for some of the clients to see the presentation because the money is for them.

"It was such a surprise that we haven't yet decided how to spend the money, although we have lots of ideas."

Sam and Scott hid the cheque in a Christmas cracker for Jo and the team to open.

Sam said: "It was really nice for Scott and myself to go in and present the cheque in person to see their reactions.

"They're such a committed group of people who have really been struggling for funds so I know this money will be a huge help to them."
