Our latest Free From dishes are getting people excited on social media. Buyer Laura Williams talks us through what’s new...
This week we’ve got lots of exciting new products launching in our Free From range – we hope you love them as much as we do!
We've got some really exciting, innovative additions, including a fajita kit, mango laksa curry sauce, pancake shaker, a caterpillar cake and porridge pots.
We’re always looking for new inspiration so we can offer more choice so if there’s anything you’d particularly love to see then please let us know by leaving a comment on our Facebook post.
Social media is a brilliant way for us to spot what customers are saying about our Free From products and to help us identify how to help more of our customers with special dietary requirements.
I love seeing customers' posts about the range, particularly on Instagram. You can see what people are saying about it on this page – and here are some of the latest posts we've seen:
A new lunchbox favourite. Really like these @asda Free From noodles. I’ve got another flavour to try but these were very good! Definitely would recommend! 🍜😋 #coeliac #coeliacuk #celiac #eatmcr #foodblogger #glutenfree #glutenfreefood #glutenfrei #sansgluten #singluten #senzaglutine #nogluten #food #health #foodie #wheatfree #freefrom #eatclean #instafood #foodphotography #coeliacdisease #manchester #mcr #didsbury #noodles #asda #worklunch #worklife #lunch #lunchbox
This new @asda vegan cheese is really lovely! I’ve tasted most available on the high street and have my favourites of those available. So when I tried this I thought it would just be the same as all the rest. However it’s very creamy and mild and I would say if you haven’t found one you like yet, definitely give it a try 😍 #vegan #veganfood #veganlife #vegansofig #veganism #veganuary #vegancheese #dairyfree #dairyfreecheese
Yes! @asda is on it with soya 'milkshakes' - haven't had a banana 'milkshake' for almost a year now! And I was just in time... Managed to grab the last one off the shelf ✌💚 #vegan #vegangirl #veganfood #plantbased #plantbaseddiet #freefrom #dairyfree #crueltyfree #milkshake #soya #asda #dairyisscary #milkisforbabycows #chocolate #banana #strawberry
These posts show the range of different Free From foods that people are talking about – and it's important to us that our Free From range caters for a variety of requirements and enables more people to enjoy their food. That's why we're always looking at innovation to keeping developing it with new options like these:
Fajita kit: We really wanted to make a great quality Fajita kit that friends can share so that whoever’s hosting doesn’t have to buy two of everything. It’s just as tasty as the fajita kit in our main range. We bring the six gluten-free wraps, two salsa sachets and one fajita spice seasoning. You bring the chicken, beef or vegetables! Turn it into a complete meal by adding our Free From nachos and sour topping made with coconut and vegan cheese. Yum!
Fajita kit – free from gluten.
Vegan sour topping – free from gluten, wheat, milk and egg.
Vegan cheese – free from dairy, gluten and wheat.
Nachos – made from corn, so naturally gluten free.
Mango laksa curry sauce: This is the Free From version of a Malaysian-style fruity sauce in our main range that won a top Innovation award from The Grocer magazine last year. Most Free From sauces you can buy are things like lasagne or tomato sauce so this is something a bit different! It’s a fruit curry sauce with tomatoes, coconut and mango.
We’ve also added a Free From carbonara sauce to our range.
Mango laksa curry sauce – free from gluten, wheat, milk and egg.
Carbonara Sauce – free from gluten, egg, wheat and milk.
Porridge pots: We wanted to give our Free From customers a breakfast they could take to work. Our porridge pots made with instant gluten-free porridge oats will give you a brilliant breakfast in just two minutes. Choose from original and golden syrup flavours.
Porridge pot original or golden syrup – free from gluten.
Chocolate cookie sandwich kit: We’re really proud of this kit as they’re nothing else like it on the market. It’s inspired by the cookie sandwich kit in our main range and we’ve tried to make the packaging very similar while showing that it’s a Free From product. We’ve done the same with our tutti frutti fairy cake kit – it’s important for us that parents can buy kits for all their children to join in. We don’t want kids to miss out just because they have allergies. Fairy cake kit includes cupcake mix, icing mix, tutti frutti decorations and 12 cases.

Frieda the Free From caterpillar cake was named by Facebook fans. It was the most popular name by far and we love it! Frieda was introduced to the range following the success of Roddy the reindeer cake this Christmas – he performed really well for us so we’ll definitely see him return for Christmas 2018. We wanted a fun birthday cake that children with allergies could enjoy with their friends when it came to their birthday. Frieda is all about inclusivity – as you can tell from the fun message on the side of the packaging. The cake is a scrummy chocolate sponge with a rich frosting filling – perfect for hungry caterpillars!

Garlic and coriander naan: It’s very difficult to find a Free From naan bread and ours is the only one that’s not plain! Gluten-free naan bread is topped with garlic and herb marinade and a scattering of coriander leaves.

Gravy: Our Free From gravy is suitable for vegetarians – we recognize that vegetarians that are also gluten free struggle to find products that suit their needs, so we wanted to offer a weggie range. Look out for further vegetarian options later in the year.
