Happy 80th birthday to Joyce Sinker from our Aintree store, who celebrated her big day with the colleagues she calls "one big family".
Joyce was presented with flowers, a cake and colleagues at the store sang 'happy birthday' to her.
Joyce works in customer services and the George department and started working at the store 28 years ago. She's been married to George for 59 years, and they have two children and three grandchildren.
"Asda have been very good to me," said Joyce. "Everyone is so friendly. The George department is just like one big happy family, as everyone helps each other. In fact, I've got so many friends across the store, I wouldn't have that if I was sat at home.
"I've had a lot of upset in my family recently – I lost one daughter to cancer two years ago, and another has pulled through cancer. The staff here have helped me through it, looked after me and been kind to me. They've been brilliant. I just like being with them.
"I know loads of customers very well too. I remember them coming in as kids, and now they're married and have their own kids, it's great. I like catching up with them, and they like seeing me too."
Joyce has worked in retail since she was 16 and now works two days a week so she can spend more time with her grandchildren.
She said: "I can't say when I'll stop working – I just take every day as it comes, but I do like to keep myself busy."
Tracey Barrow, George section leader at the store, said: "Joyce is really popular – lots of our regular customers always come in and ask after her.
"She's happy, outgoing, energetic and she's always got a smile on her face. She loves working here and we love working with her!"
