Our fantastic colleague Jacqui Johnson will be taking to the catwalk this October after she was chosen to model in the annual Breast Cancer Care fashion show in London.

Jacqui, who's 51 and works in our Hull Living store, was diagnosed with breast cancer 20 years ago. She had an operation to remove a 3cm grade three tumour, followed by chemotherapy, and has been cancer-free since her treatment.

She applied to take part in the show, which stars 32 models all of whom have been diagnosed with breast cancer, because her experience has made her determined not to let anything beat her and so she can give strength and inspiration to other people with breast cancer.

Jacqui said: "I'm very nervous about walking the catwalk as it's so far out of my comfort zone, but there are other wonderful breast cancer ladies doing this with me and I want to be a beacon for other ladies going through what is a traumatic experience to know there is life after breast cancer – I’m here to prove that!”

Jacqui has three children – two of whom were born after her treatment – and four grandchildren. She says her experience taught her to laugh at every opportunity, spend time with loved ones and to try not to listen to any negativity.

Every year Jacqui organises a fundraiser with colleagues at Asda Living Hull to help spread more awareness of our Tickled Pink campaign and breast cancer.

Jacqui said: "My managers and colleagues are all very supportive of my passion for raising funds for breast cancer awareness throughout the year and were all really proud that I was chosen."

Suzanne said: "We constantly laugh at the smallest thing, I call my colleagues my Asda family and that’s what it feels like, they are a fabulous and supportive bunch of people and I love working with them."
