Befriending service for the elderly hosts Christmas party with Asda's support

Our Belfast Westwood store's community champion Noeleen McMahon regularly volunteers with Good Morning Colin – a charity which offers a telephone befriending service for elderly people – and after helping them secure a £1,000 grant from the Asda Foundation she called in to lend a hand at their Christmas party.

Good Morning Colin arrange phone calls with people who may be feeling vulnerable or isolated, particularly during the festive period.

The group's coordinator Isabel Flood said: "Without the support of Noeleen and Asda we wouldn't be able to offer the same level of support to vulnerable and isolated people in our community.

"The £1,000 enabled us to put on a full Christmas dinner for our guests and we also put on entertainment too. Everyone had a brilliant time.

"Noeleen regularly joins us throughout the year and helps us make calls. It's just great to have her on board."

Noeleen said: "It's a pleasure for me to help this group out – they do a fantastic job in the local area."
