Our Hamilton store's community champion Kimberley Keys helped Larkhall & District Volunteer Group secure a £35,000 donation from the Asda Foundation to paty for a new minibus which they say is already proving a "lifeline" for local people.

The group's charity manager Sandra McCrory said: "This fantastic donation has allowed us to buy a new all-singing, all-dancing minibus which is already making a big difference to the people we help.

"We've been using it to transport elderly people who may be vulnerable, isolated or have mobility issues to our lunch clubs, take them shopping and take them to our other activities to – it's a lifeline for them.

"It has so many features which our old minibus didn't, like a tail lift. Kimberley's support has been invaluable and we're so grateful to her and the Asda Foundation."

Kimberley said: "The Asda Foundation is one of the many ways to give something back to the communities that support us. Larkhall & District Volunteer Group are now running a new Strutherhill and Birkenshaw shopping bus every Wednesday 10am-12pm, taking members of the local community over the age of 55 from their house to Asda Larkhall thanks to the delivery of the new minibus. It's brilliant to be supporting the local community."
