Our Scan & Go service is popular with customers who like to budget and keep tabs on their spending as they shop in store – and now we’re introducing a version that works on your own mobile phone with no need for a separate handset.
We're always looking for ways to make the shopping experience in our stores as easy, fast and friendly as possible – which is why we offer a growing range of options to suit different customers’ needs and preferences. You can find out more about our existing Scan and Go service here.
We’ve been trialling Scan & Go on Mobile with colleagues for several months and we’ve had some really great feedback.
So from this month customers can try it in 25 of our stores – if they like it we’ll start rolling it out to more stores next month. See if your local store is in the trial here.
The app will help you to track the running total of your spending – including rollbacks and offers – as you add items to your trolley.
It also means you don’t have to take everything out of your trolley at the checkout and can pack things away as you shop.
When you’re finished you go to the dedicated Scan & Go checkout to pay.
The introduction of Scan & Go Mobile means we can also start to offer the service in stores that don’t have the space for a wall of handsets.
If your local store is taking part in the trial and you have a smartphone why not give it a try the next time you’re in store?
Before you start shopping you’ll need to download the free Scan and Go app on your mobile phone as you would any other app, then create a profile or log in with your Asda Home Shopping details.
Then you’re ready to go! You simply use the app to scan the barcodes of products you want to buy before adding them to your basket or trolley. You can pack as you go and if you change your mind, don’t worry – you can always change the quantity of items or delete items if you put something back
Once you've completed your shop you'll get a code on your phone that you take to a Scan and Go checkout to pay for your shopping.
We’ve been training all our colleagues in the stores that offer Scan & Go on Mobile – not just those on the Scan & Go checkouts. So, if you have a problem scanning an item or aren’t sure what to do, you can ask any of our colleagues for help.
And don’t worry – this isn’t a replacement for our other checkout options. It’s an extra option for customers who like the idea of shopping in store using a mobile app.
Our Scan and Go team are continuing to develop the service and hope to add the ability to pay straight from your phone in future too.
We’d love to know what you think of the service, so tell our colleagues in store or tweet us @asda.
