Stephanie teams up with local food bank for collection ahead of summer holidays

Our Kilkeel store's community champion Stephanie Rogers invited some of the wonderful volunteers from Cornerstone Foodbank into the store for a collection drive to coincide with the start of the summer holidays.

Stephanie's set up a dedicated collection point for customers to donate much-needed supplies to the food bank when they are doing their shopping.

She said: "Our customers and colleagues are always very generous. We always have food collection points in store, but over the next few weeks we're really trying to increase the increase the level of donations during the summer holidays when sadly food bank referrals do tend to increase."

The food bank distributes food to people from across the wider Mourne area and last year supported over 60 local families in crisis.

The initiative is part of our three-year Asda Fight Hunger Create Change programme, working in partnership with foodbank charity The Trussell Trust and food redistribution charity FareShare, investing over £20 million to create long-term positive change to poverty.
