£27,500 Asda Foundation grant for Waterlooville Community Centre
Waterlooville Community Centre will soon be getting a much-needed new kitchen thanks to a £27,500 grant from the Asda Foundation.
Our Waterlooville store's community champion Jacqui Bryant, who presented the donation on behalf of everyone at the store, said the team at the centre were "absolutely made up" by the donation.
She said: "The kitchen is really, really old and outdated and needs totally gutting. This fantastic donation from the Asda Foundation will enable them to get a new one."
The centre – which is actually situated by the store's car park – is used by many groups in the community. The new kitchen will especially benefit the lunch club for the elderly which meets there each week.
Jacqui said: "Not only do lunch club members get a hot meal, but it is a great place for them to meet and have a chat. You can't put a price on that."
So far this year our store has handed out donations totalling £45,731 to groups, charities and good causes in the area. Jaqcui said: "These donations can really make a difference."
