Our charitable giving arm, the Asda Foundation, has been helping communities by supporting local good causes and groups across the UK for the last 30 years.

One of the many groups supported by the Asda Foundation is Portadown-based social enterprise the Right Key, which received £9,000 to buy musical instruments and equipment.

The Right Key works with local service users recovering from addiction, mental health issues, or those who have come into contact with the criminal justice system, using music to improve health, healing, and the recovery process.

Our Portadown store's community champion Elaine Livingstone helped the not-for-profit group secure the grant and, alongside store manager Kate Hamilton, she called in to present founder Sheila Smyth with a plaque to celebrate the Asda Foundation's anniversary and see the difference the donation has made to The Right Key's work.

Elaine said: "It was brilliant to be able to visit The Right Key to present the Asda Foundation plaque which celebrates 30 years of giving. I am passionate about supporting groups in the Portadown area which are making a real difference in the lives of local people through the Asda Foundation – with The Right Key a prime example of what can be achieved through a donation.

"Thanks to the group for making me feel so welcome during the celebrations – and I look forward to continuing to support outstanding local groups, such as The Right Key, through my role as community champion at Asda Portadown."

Sheila said: "We are so pleased to be celebrating this significant milestone for the Asda Foundation with Elaine and her colleagues from Asda Portadown.

"Elaine’s support and encouragement has been invaluable for us as a group – with the donation helping to change the lives of local people through the power of music.

“Wishing the Asda Foundation lots of success for the future. We have no doubt it will continue its great work in supporting local organisations, which seek to improve local communities across Northern Ireland, in the years ahead."
