Colleagues pull out all the stops to reunite Skyla with her favourite doll

September 23, 2019 11:20 AM

Five-year-old Skyla Powell is all smiles again after being reunited with her favourite Anna doll which she lost while on a shopping trip to our Merthyr Tydfil store with her mum.

Our colleague Angela Jones found the doll in the store and handed her over to the customer services desk for safe keeping. When the store's community champion Sarah Williams spotted her there she decided to raise awareness by taking some fun photos to share on social media of Anna being given her own Asda name badge and being taken on a tour of the store – including the frozen aisle, obviously!

We put out an appeal looking for Anna'a owner on our Merthyr Tydfil store's Facebook page – and within five hours Skyla's mum Jessica had seen the post, recognised the doll, and got in touch to say she was hers.

With Skyla at school, Jessica called in with her two-year-old son Vincent to collect Anna the following day.

Jessica said: "Skyla is over the moon that she has got Anna back – it's her favourite teddy and she takes it everywhere with her.

"We looked all over the house for it and then I went onto Facebook and saw the appeal from Asda! I can't thank the staff there enough.

"Skyla was so excited to have Anna back."

Sarah: "I hated the thought of a child being without a favourite toy, so I thought taking pictures of Anna in the store would be a good way to raise awareness and it's wonderful to see that it worked. We were only too happy to help make sure Skyla got her doll back."
