From Monster Pumpkins to spooktacular fancy dress: how we're getting into the Halloween spirit

October 22, 2019 08:54 AM

Our colleagues at stores across the country are getting into the spirit of Halloween – creating some frightfully good displays in stores and dressing up in spookktacular costumes as Trick or Treat night approaches.

The team at our Gosforth store, pictured above, love turning into at witches, wizards and ghosts at this time of year. The store's community champion Michelle Castledine said: "It's great to have a bit of fun with our colleagues' dress-up competition and pumpkin carving competition. Let's have some fun this Halloween!"

The store has also just donated 20 assorted pumpkins to Play in Newcastle, which runs a free after-school club five days a week and through the school holidays. Michelle said: "The children will now enjoy next week's pumpkin carving activities thanks to our donation."

Customers at our Washington store know exactly who they’re gonna call if they need to create a spooktacular display this Halloween.

Representatives from Coca-Cola worked with store colleagues to create this huge Ghostbusters display using hundreds of cans of fizzy drink in the foyer of the store.

The display has delighted customers in-store and online. Store manager Nick Jackson said: “We do this every year, but this year it seems to have got a lot of attention because of social media. We’ll be doing it again at Christmas, so watch out for it.”

Not to be outdone, colleagues at the nearby Benton store created this brilliant haunted mansion design:

We’ve got lots of tasty treats to offer Trick or Treaters on 31st October – and we're really excited to be able to offer Halloween Free From treats for the first time so that everyone, including those with allergies, can join in the fun of Halloween! Find out more here.

Our colleagues at Cramlington were only too happy to donate to the Halloween disco at Hareside Primary School, pictured below. Jackie Burt, the store's community champion, said: "There were some brilliant fancy dress costumes."

It’s getting a bit spooky at our Downpatrick store, where colleagues just love getting dressed up as this photo from community champion Linda Owens shows:

Our Pwllhei community champion Jo Scott, pictured below, says she loves this time of year.

Jo said: "There's so many lovely outfits on offer in store and I've a lot of community Halloween parties to go to. I'm hoping to dance with some spooky characters that's for sure!"

Colleagues at our Dewsbury store love to dress up for Halloween as this photo shows!

Halloween wouldn't be Halloween without pumpkins and this year we're selling Monster pumpkins at £5 each in our stores – here's one at our Kingswood store in Hull:

At our Carcroft store, the massive fruits – which are 32-40 cm in diameter and specially grown in Lincolnshire – are proving a huge hit with customers. Store manager Terry Edwards said: "They will look fantastic when carved for Halloween!"

Liz McCreery, the community champion at our Breck Road store in Liverpool, was only too happy to donate pumpkins to Daisy Inclusive UK for their spooky Halloween event.

Shaheen from our Leicester Abbey Lane store shared this photo of colleagues looking great in their Halloween costumes.

Colleagues at our Oadby store love getting dressed up at this time of year as the picture below shows.

Lucie from our Blackwood store shared this lovely photo of a baby getting into the Halloween spirit at a party for colleagues' children.
