Student James loves his work experience sessions at our Dundonald store
Eighteen-year-old James Warren is loving his work experience sessions at our Dundonald store where he's learning valuable life skills and having fun too!
His teachers at Tor Bank School in Belfast say James goes home beaming from ear to ear after his shifts.
Our Dundonald store's community champion Sharon McBratney has been welcoming students with learning disabilities and special educational needs into the store for once-a-week work experience placements. They are given behind-the-scenes tours and get to work on the checkouts and make pizzas too.
Sharon said: "James is a fantastic young man who has fitted right in with colleagues and customers alike.
"He couldn't wait to make his own pizza to share with his mum – even making it half and half so they both got their favourite toppings. He is such a star!"
Zara Minford, head of sixth form at Tor Bank School, said students like James were given fantastic opportunities by Asda.
She said: "James is loving his time at Asda. He is a regular customer there too and knows quite a lot of the staff there.
"He comes back after his placement beaming from ear to ear. It has really boosted his confidence which is lovely to see.
"Everyone at the store is so welcoming to James. It's great that the staff take the time to look after our students."
