Elizabeth's extra special Strictly-style Christmas surprise scores a perfect 10

Our Toryglen store's community champion Elizabeth Arbuckle has been busy spreading festive magic in the local community this Christmas – organising an extra special surprise for a group of carers and people with dementia.

Elizabeth secured a grant from the Asda Foundation to help pay for a Strictly Come Dancing-themed Christmas party for Rutherglen Carers.

Fiona Holding from Rutherglen Carers said: “Every year, we host a Christmas party for service users and their families. Asda’s support was the cherry on the cake – and made the celebrations extra special!

“The dancers were fantastic, and we can’t thank the Asda colleagues involved on the day enough for their help and support.

“Since the party, our service users have been telling us how overwhelmed they were by the magical entertainment and fantastic food. Everybody really enjoyed the day – so thank you Asda for making our Christmas wishes come true."

Elizabeth said: “Christmas is a wonderful time of year, but it can also cause a lot of stress and financial pressure for families in our community.

“I first worked with Rutherglen Carers through the Asda Foundation’s Green Token Giving scheme – and I am so impressed by the amazing work it does within our local community. I am always keen to help the group – so when I realised I could make the Christmas party extra special, I jumped at the chance!

“The event was an opportunity for service users and their families to spend quality time together – and celebrate the festive season. A magical day!”
