Our Coventry store's wonderful community champion Lynda Cole has been presented with the Lord Mayor's Exceptional Contribution Award for her outstanding support to the local Enterprise Club which supports people with disabilities.

Jill Simmons, who manages the club and who nominated Lynda for the award, said: "Lynda has great empathy with our members and has established a warm relationship with many of them.

"As an independent charity we greatly appreciate the support and friendship that Lynda has offered to us. She is a great ambassador for Asda."

Lynda, who has been a community champion for two years, said she was "extremely honoured and proud" to receive the award.

She said: "It just blew me away. I never expected anything like this. I've been helping with the Enterprise Club since I became community champion and go down there most Tuesdays to help with their art and craft activities. I always help arrange their bag packs and I've received funds for them through the Asda Foundation. They are a lovely bunch and we have became good friends."

Store manager Jon Clements said: "Lynda really goes above and beyond when supporting our local charities. She is always very friendly, supportive and an advocate of supporting causes within our community mile.

"The Enterprise Club has been running for over 80 years and doesn't get any funding other than what is raised by themselves so to receive this award for Linda was a very special moment. It makes you realise how valuable community colleagues across our whole business are to local causes and the impact it has on the whole community."

Lynda received her award from the Lord Mayor Coventry Linda Bigham at the City of Coventry Council offices and was accompanied by Jon and her father, Mel.
