Our new Entice Soft Touch lingerie is our first collection to be made with recycled yarn
Assistant buyer for Lingerie, Octavia Homans, tells us more about the first ever George lingerie range made from recycled fibres ...
We're always looking at how we do the right thing for our customers and so we've been working with our suppliers to develop more sustainable options in our collections. It's an area consumers are becoming increasingly aware of and it's a focus for the whole fashion industry.
I joined the George team in May as assistant buyer for lingerie and started working on our first sustainable lingerie collection. I took ethics and sustainability as part of my degree so it's an area I'm very interested in. More and more people are reusing the clothes they've already got, buying second hand or looking for ethical and sustainable options if they do buy new.
We wanted to start using recycled fibres in a lingerie collection with broad appeal. Our new Soft Touch T-shirt bras and matching briefs are part of our Entice collection, designed for everyday comfort and women of all ages. The bras are made from polyamide and elastane and the recycled yarn in them comes from the waste fibres produced during the knitting process.
Lingerie made from recycled fibre will carry the new "George for Good" tag, and customers will be able to enjoy the soft touch fabric and fantastic fit whilst also contributing towards a more sustainable future
The new range comes in a choice of three colours for Spring/Summer: light pink, ivory and grey. The bras are available in sizes 34B to 42E with matching briefs in sizes 10 to 22.
We've challenged all our existing suppliers to use more recycled and sustainable materials in future so hopefully this is just the start.
The Entice Soft Touch lingerie is in selected stores now - look out for the new tag "George For Good" tag or browse them online on George.com.
