Terry always goes above and beyond for his customers at Ellesmere Port
"Heart of gold", "Lovely man", "top bloke", "fab guy" – these are just some of the ways customers at our Ellesmere Port store described service colleague Terry Clark in a Facebook post thanking him for his kindness.
Sixty-three-year-old Terry, who's worked at the store for three years, is a well-known figure at the store after a stint as a safety marshal greeting customers at the front of the store at the start of the Covid pandemic.
One customer was so taken back by Terry's kindness towards her when she was trying to buy baby milk recently that she took to the Pride in the Port Facebook group to thank him, and many people commented to say how great he was.
Example comments included:
"Terry has a heart of gold"
"Well done you 👏 always nice to do a good deed xx"
"Lovely man very privileged to work with him a couple of years ago"
"Top bloke, known him for years"
"Terry is a fab guy"
Terry said: "Kindness costs nothing, I think everyone should help someone. I'd give my time to anyone as they may be a time when you need them to help you. I love my customers, I really do. They are lovely people. I love helping them and have a good rapport with them."
"I was at the front of the store as a Covid marshal and I used to greet everyone coming in and also sanitise all the baskets. I loved it and I used to make people laugh too.
"I've still got hundreds of pensioners that remember me from the front. They no longer see me as someone who works for Asda, but as a friend."
Another example of Terry's kindness is the way he helps one of the store's older customers each week.
Every Tuesday he puts all her shopping through self checkouts and evenly distributes it so the bags aren't too heavy for the customer, before helping her to the taxi that takes her home.
Terry's married to Louise and they have two children Ellis, who's 14, and 16-year-old Sofia, who's just started working part-time at the store.
The store's community champion Adele Dybacz said: "Nobody has a bad word to say about Terry, customers and colleagues alike.
"He would, and does, go above and beyond everyday for absolutely anyone. He's a very respected and valued member of the front end service team."
And customer trading manager Caroline Harvey, who's nominated Terry for an Asda service superstar award for his great service, towards the young mum, said: "Terry is one of the best colleagues we could wish for.
"He is a credit to our store and this act proves how he goes above and beyond for our customers every day."
