Children enjoy winter wonderland surprise at Mill Hill Community Centre
Children from the after-school club at Mill Hill Community Centre in Blackburn had a day to remember when community champion Lynne Kozlowski from our Blackburn store helped to arrange a magical party complete with Santa and the Grinch.
The club was transformed into a winter wonderland for the afternoon with a giant snow globe, photo booth, funfair stalls and candy cane stilt walkers.
Lynne, who has strong links with the club, said: "The children absolutely loved it, they had a great time. At the end Santa was stood in the corridor giving our presents to them all. We've had loads of feedback saying how amazing it was."
Centre manager Sue Freear added: "The party was totally out of this world. It was such a magical afternoon. I don't think the kids will see anything like that again. They absolutely loved it, it was so so different. It was amazing.
"We kept the kids out until the majority had arrived and we let them in all at once. They had to burst through wrapping paper which had been put across the door.
"I think the children just thought it was going to be little Christmas party, sitting at tables and playing a few games. They just couldn't believe it.
"We can't thank Asda and Lynne enough – we wouldn't have been able to have put anything like that on."
On the day, the centre was also awarded a £1,000 grant from the Asda Foundation.
