Thank you for supporting "Spot-acular" BBC Children in Need Appeal

Colleagues at our stores across the country are doing a "Spot-acular" job supporting this year's BBC Children in Need appeal.

The money – raised by through customer and colleague donations and by sales of George at Asda items – will fund charities and projects in every corner of the UK that support children and young people.

Here are just some of the ways colleagues from our stores across the UK have been supporting this year's appeal:

Colleagues at our Sheffield Handworth Road store have been taking part in a 812-mile 'treadmill trek' – the distance from Land's End to John O'Groats – to raise money. the store's community champion Alison Canning said: "Customers are loving it as it's not something you usually see in an Asda."

Our colleague Shaun Dickson is taking part in a sponsored cycle ride from Asda Arbroath to our Dundee West store, calling in at our Milton and Kirkton stores on the way. He said: "I chose Children in Need because it’s heartbreaking to think of kids doing without or living in poverty. I’ve three grandchildren of my own and you want them to have the best start in life. I’ve not set a target, just whatever people can afford, every penny helps."

At our Gosforth store, our community champion Michelle Castledine and Pudsey Bear have been busy visiting local schools and groups such as Silverline Memories who support people with dementia.

Our Boston community champion Stephen Bromby has been accompanying Pudsey on a tour of primary schools in the town.

Annette Newell, community champion at our Dunbar store, shared this post of Pudsey Bear visiting West Barns School to see all the children. She said: "They were all excited to see him."

Karen Thomas, community champion at our Tonypandy store, accompanied Pudsey Bear to Canolfan Pentre. The centre provides an after-school club, mother and toddler group and holiday club.

Pudsey Bear has been once again been visiting all the schools in Anglesey together with community champion Sam Cowell from our Llangefni store who said: "The children have been so excited to see him!"

Community champion Jane Atkin, from our Swindon Haydon store, took Pudsey to visit Swindon Food Collective. She said: "Pudsey came with me as he wanted to see for himself the great work the team does to support our local community. We had great fun and Pudsey loved helping out."
