Colleagues sing alongside Michael Bublé in Asda Christmas advert
Our colleagues Ben Dutton, Jason Gwynn and Sarah Thompson say they're still having to pinch themselves after they were chosen to sing with Michael Bublé on this year's Asda Christmas advert.
The trio, who joined a professional choir to perform the version of Winter Wonderland which is featured at the end of the festive ad, say filming is a day they'll never forget.
Ben Dutton, who's worked at our Peterborough store for 12 years, said: "I got an email through asking if I knew anyone in the store who could sing to take part in a Christmas marketing event. I thought it sounded like fun so I thought I'd give it a go, so I sent a video off of me singing and got an email with confirmation to say I'd been selected.
"I used to do quite a lot of singing, I use to be in a church choir and I've been told that I've got quite a nice voice.
"The day was totally amazing; I got to see some of Michael Bublé's scenes being filmed too."
The advert was filmed at Black Island Studios in London in September in the middle of a heatwave. Ben said: "It very hot, roasting in fact.
"Michael Bublé walked on set and sang with us. He was very friendly and very chatty. It was really nice how he was so relaxed with people."
Jason Gwynn, a former Butlin's Redcoat who works as community champion at our Derby store, said it was an amazing experience.
He said: "I sent off a video of myself singing; it was Celebration by Kool and the Gang, which was the first song that came into my head.
"I follow Michael Bublé on Instagram and, on the day we were due to do the 'secret' filming he put a picture of himself outside a studio and I started to put two and two together!
"When he came in he said hello to us all and as he walked past he even slapped me on the shoulder and Ben got a handshake.
"Michael was brilliant – a really nice guy, and so friendly and jovial. When we filmed our scene with him he introduced himself to everyone.
"He then said 'let me hear you sing' and he was stood right in front of me looking in my eyes and my jaw started to go a bit wobbly and I was thinking 'this can't be really happening!'
"It was a once in a lifetime moment, which I'll never forget. It was a great day; a very long day, but a great one."
Service colleague Sarah Thompson, who's worked at our Belvedere store for almost seven years, said she was "a little bit starstruck" after meeting Michael Bublé.
She said: "I really enjoyed the whole process of filming the advert, from wardrobe and make up to getting to be on the set watching Michael Bublé film a scene testing the sausages.
"When we filmed our section Michael was so friendly and chatted to us in between takes, making sure we weren't too hot in all our winter coats and hats."
