Hayley Tatum MBE
Chief People and Corporate Affairs Officer
Hayley is the Senior Vice President – Chief People and Corporate Affairs Officer at Asda having joined the Executive Board in 2011; with responsibility for 150,000 UK colleagues. Asda has been listed in the UK Top Employers for 5 consecutive years. Prior to this she spent 20 years working through the ranks of Tesco both in People and Operations where her last position was UK and Republic of Ireland People Director.
Hayley completed her first Non - Executive Director role to the Cabinet Office and advisor to Department of Work and Pensions (November 2017 – December 2020).
Hayley has a Masters Degree in Human Resource Management and is a Companion of the Chartered Institute of Personnel & Development and a qualified NLP practitioner. Hayley was awarded an Honorary Doctorate for service to the HR profession in 2019. She continues to be an ambassador for the profession with her appointment in 2020 to the editorial panel of the HR Director magazine and was awarded the HRD of the year 2021 from HR today.
Passionate about social mobility and in-work skills and education she has been an active member of the Ambassadors Apprenticeship Network since 2007, and in 2021 was appointed to the Grocery Aid Board of Trustees and Remco chair.
Earlier this year Hayley extended her executive accountabilities to lead Corporate Affairs for Asda. Her teams span and influences press and media relations, government affairs and Community and Charity partnerships, awareness and fundraising.
Asda has raised over £80m during its award-winning partnership with Breast Cancer Now and Hayley is both a survivor and an avid sponsor, campaigner and fund raiser for the important work of the charity.
She is also a supporter for the charity Tommy’s serving as a board Trustee for the last 11 years. Tommy’s fund groundbreaking research into pregnancy problems and premature birth as well as providing information to parents.
Hayley was recognised with an MBE in 2024 for her services to the voluntary and charity sector.
She lives in Buckinghamshire, with her husband, 2 children and 2 dogs. Whilst juggling the commute to Leeds, she also enjoys family holidays, gardening and personal fitness.
