David Potts CBE

David Potts CBE is a highly experienced retail leader with more than four decades of experience in the grocery and retail sectors. He joined Tesco at the age of 16 and spent 39 years with the business, progressing through a wide range of operational and leadership roles across the UK and internationally.

During his career at Tesco, David served as Chief Executive Officer of Tesco Ireland, Chief Executive Officer of Tesco's UK retail stores business, and Chief Executive Officer of Tesco Asia. He was also a member of the Tesco PLC Board for 13 years, from 1998 to 2011.

David joined Morrisons as Chief Executive Officer in 2015, leading the business through a period of significant transformation and growth. Under his leadership, Morrisons strengthened its customer proposition, expanded its wholesale partnerships, grew its online operations, and reinforced its position as one of the UK's leading supermarkets.

In November 2026, David joined Asda as Chief Executive Officer. He brings extensive experience in food retail, operational excellence and large-scale business transformation, with a track record of leading major retail organisations and delivering for customers, colleagues and shareholders.
