Portadown-based, sheltered housing group Edenderry Fold has participated in a special iPad training course alongside Asda Portadown Community Life Champion Elaine Livingstone.
The scheme has been rolled-out across all of the Fold Housing Associations in Northern Ireland.
The group of over 55s, who have never used an iPad before, took part in a 10 week training course, learning the basics of using an iPad including surfing the web and Skype.
Asda Portadown Community Life Champion Elaine Livingstone, who has volunteered with the group since it began three years ago explains:
“In my role as Community Life Champion for Asda Portadown I’m always keen to help improve and better the lives of residents in and around our store. I’ve worked with Edenderry Fold for many years, and the iPad training sessions are a great opportunity to give its residents the chance to learn a new skill and to also have some fun! Over the past few weeks we’ve learnt so much – from booking hotels and restaurants to skyping friends and family! Two of the group have even purchased their own iPads following the session. We still have a few weeks to go and are really looking forward to it!"
