This June, Asda stores across Northern Ireland will, for the first time join Breast Cancer Care to support its annual summer fundraising campaign, Strawberry Tea.

Running from 4-18 June and led by Asda NI’s award-winning team of Community Champions, the UK-wide initiative is being supported at a local level by breast cancer survivor, Karen Case who benefited from the services of Breast Cancer Care when going through treatment four years ago.

Each of the participating Asda stores will host a #StrawberryTea stall with activities for customers to get involved with, including cupcake decorating and a teapot lucky dip. There will also be information on how the public can join in and host a #StrawberryTea, as well as background about the charity and the much needed services it provides.

All money raised will help Breast Cancer Care provide support for women, men, family and friends affected by breast cancer.

Encouraging Asda customers to get involved to help drive awareness of Breast Cancer Care Karen Case said:

“When I was first diagnosed with breast cancer it came as a complete bolt out of the blue, affecting me both physically and mentally. Breast Cancer Care was on hand to offer support and help me deal with the array of emotions and challenges I suddenly had to face. I can’t speak highly enough of the services provided by the charity and I would urge all Asda shoppers to visit their local store, find out more about #StrawberryTea, and lend their support to this vital fundraising campaign.”

George Rankin, Senior Director NI for Asda commented, “The money raised through Strawberry Teas will make a real difference to people affected by breast cancer. Our colleagues and customers in Northern Irelandhave always been incredibly supportive of our fundraising activities and I know this time will be no different. What better way to bring people together than with a cup of tea and a slice of cake!”

Hannah Branch, Community Fundraising Manager at Breast Cancer Care, said “We’re delighted Asda colleagues, customers and ourlocal survivorKaren Caseare supporting Breast Cancer Care and Strawberry Tea this summer. We’d love more people to gather friends and family to host their own afternoon tea. The funds raised through each and every Strawberry Tea enable Breast Cancer Care to continue to be there for anyone facing breast cancer, from day one.”
