Dedicated football fans who work for Asda in Northern Ireland can ensure the spirit of the European Championships is as alive at work as it is at home - by swapping their standard uniform shirt for that of their favourite national football team throughout the duration of the tournament.
The ‘shirt swap’ initiative, which applies to all of Asda’s shop-floor colleagues across the UK, is part of the supermarket’s Euro celebrations and aims to make sure colleagues and customers connect with this unique event – whether at home, at work or at play!
As it is part of a global company and to reflect the universal appeal of football, Asda colleagues will be not be restricted to the teams competing in the Euros, but will be able to wear any national football shirt – whether they’re a fan of Brazil, Barbados or Bolivia!
“With four of the local national teams represented at the European Championships we know there will be a real buzz in the air,” explained George Rankin, Senior Director for Asda Northern Ireland.
“As we operate on a 24/7 basis we wanted to make sure our colleagues can share in the build-up and excitement when they’re at work, and a shirt swap is a very simple way to help them do so.”
Thanks to its new deal with Umbro, Asda is also stocking a range of Euro 2016 branded sportswear including polo shirts and shorts. And with all stores fully stocked with party food and BBQ ranges, there’s every opportunity to embrace the sporting spirit throughout the football frenzied months of June and July.
