15,000 sq ft store creates up to 80 new jobs

Asda announced it will be opening a brand new store in Lewisham later this year. The £8.8m, 15,000 square foot store will create up to 80 jobs for local residents, with a mixture of full and part time roles across a range of departments.

The store which is set to open mid-October, will incorporate a delicious selection of convenient products from its rotisserie, pizza and bakery counters, as well as a wide selection of quality grocery produce.

The store will also have a brand new Express Takeaway, offering a wide range of meals starting from just £1 – including jacket potatoes, hotdogs and breakfast baps, and large pizza slices for £1.50. Customers can also take away a full sized freshly cooked pizza for just £6.

Asda Lewisham will also offer a click and collect service for hassle free shopping. Customers can either go in store to collect, or go to the collection point in the car park to have their shopping put straight into their boot.

Self-service bakery and coffee shop, bake&TAKE will be connected to the store, selling high quality, freshly baked goods and products.

Following a £150,000 investment, a new bake&TAKE concession will be opening within the new Asda store at Lewisham.

Mohamed Hamad, owner manager of bake&TAKE in Lewisham, commented: “We’re delighted to be opening the first bake&TAKE within the Asda store in Lewisham and hope that the concept is well received by local shoppers who can enjoy our extensive range of fresh, tasty and inexpensive breakfast, lunch and on-the-go snacking options. Our coffee is of an exceptionally high standard and we are renowned for our competitive prices on baguettes, breakfasts and hot food options. General store manager, Hayley Young, said: “We’re so excited to be opening Asda Lewisham later this year, and becoming a part of the local community. It’s fantastic that we’re able to offer up to 80 jobs to local people with a variety of positions.”

The new store will have easy access links and will have 111 free customer car parking spaces. Asda Lewisham, will open from 7am-11pm Monday to Saturday and 11am-5pm on Sunday.
