Buckinghamshire business sold over 125 million grams of yogurt with Asda last year
A local Buckinghamshire business, with over 65 years of heritage, is celebrating its most successful year to date with national supermarket chain, Asda.
Tims Dairy is regarded as an institution in the South East and has revealed a 14.3% increase in sales year on year with Asda. It sold over 125 million grams of yogurts in 2015, equating to almost 1068 units per day at stores across the region.
The business was originally set up in London back in 1949 by Euripides Nicolaou, who was subsequently joined by Michael Timotheou. Their yogurt, still a relatively new concept in Britain at the time, helped to make yogurt an important part of the British diet.
Almost 50 years later, the second generation family of four brothers and one sister moved the business to Denham Lane in Chalfont St Peter, Buckinghamshire, where premium award winning yogurts and cultured creams are still produced today.
The company is still a family run business, with Chris, Peter, Bides and Tony Timotheou managing the business.
Tims Dairy has substantially increased its Asda store listings since first supplying an Asda store four years ago – and now supplies 64 Asda supermarkets and superstores across the South East of England.
Chris Timotheou, Managing Director at Tims Dairy, said: “We have a fantastic relationship with Asda who are clearly committed to providing local suppliers with opportunities and the tools to grow their business.”
“This month we have rebranded our highly popular bio-live luxury Greek Style Yogurt range as we look to provide customers with the information they need to make their buying decisions as clearly and concisely as possible.”
“The business has grown organically over the last couple of years with the addition of becoming an Asda supplier. We are proud to still be a family business and we are proud to supply Buckinghamshire and the South East with premium quality products.”
Lisa Nesden, Asda’s local chilled buyer for England and Wales, said: “We work closely with our local suppliers across the country, and listen to customer feedback, to ensure that our shelves are always stocked with the most innovative produce available that are that little bit extra special.
“Tims Dairy has a rich history and has been doing the South East proud for decades – we love to champion local produce and collaboration between local producers. They make premium quality, fresh yogurts using the finest ingredients – and this expertise means a great tasting product that is very popular amongst customers.”
Tims has already sold more than 390,000 units this year with Asda and employs 70 people at its dairy and headquarters in Buckinghamshire.
