Nine colleagues at Asda Filton have had their heads shaved in a ‘shave for Dave’ fundraiser for Pancreatic Cancer UK.

Dave Rolph is the Filton store’s GSM who is currently battling pancreatic cancer for the second time and Asda Filton’s community champion, Anne Maddox, organised the event to show Dave that the whole of Filton is supporting him.

The event, which took place on Tuesday 08 November, has already raised well over £1,000 for Pancreatic Cancer UK and comes at a time where Asda’s Tickled Pink campaign has surpassed the £50million fundraising mark.

Anne Maddox, community champion at Asda Filton, said: "We’ve had amazing support for Dave since he was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer for the second time - lots of people have been donating and people were clapping and cheering as they walked past.
“On a personal level, after I was diagnosed with Breast Cancer, it was Dave’s encouragement and mentoring that helped me return to work.
“I must thank our colleagues who supported this event and of course our loyal customers who delved into their pockets to support Dave.”

Dave Rolph, general store manager at Asda Filton, said: “What an overwhelming amount of support – I am so touched by the reaction of the colleagues and customers.
“Anne and I went through our cancer treatment at the same time so we share a special bond in that respect. I am so proud of Anne and I cannot thank her enough for organising this event, it will help me through the tougher days.”
