
Colleague Stan Olby has worked as a baker at our Longwell Green store for the last 32 years
Asda colleague Stan Olby who works as a baker at the Longwell Green store, for the last 32 years has always gone above and beyond his job role in his store and this year celebrates his 84th birthday.
Stan began his career with the supermarket back in 1984 when he took a job as a baker at the Cardiff store. He served there for many years before moving onto stores in Whitchurch and Bedminster before finishing in Longwell Green where he has been ever since.
As well as an incredible loyalty to the supermarket brand, over the years Stan has an extensive list of charity events and undergone gone some incredible feats that has landed him quite the reputation with the local community.
Stan said: “I love the people and the team at Asda Longwell Green; you get to know customers by sight. I’ve been saying I’ll retire for years but I’m still here!
“I can’t believe how quickly the last 32 years have flown by, the store has been so supportive over the years and it’s wonderful to see that we’re all one big Asda family!”
In addition to being the acting store Santa Claus at Christmas, at 70 years-old Stan also took part in a charity parachute jump and ran the Bristol half marathon which and raised over an astonishing £14,000 in total for Tickled Pink, an Asda ran charity that is committed to providing support to those affected by Breast Cancer.
