It's Coming Home…Shopping! Asda Names New Delivery Vans In Honour Of England Heroes

A fleet of home shopping vans delivering groceries from Asda’s newest home shopping centre in Dartford have been named in honour of England’s World Cup heroes ahead of the three lions first semi-final appearance in 18 years.

Colleagues at the new 115,000 sq foot Dartford home shopping centre seized the opportunity to name the fleet after watching England march into the semi-finals on the same day the new fleet of vehicles arrived at the newly opened facility, which employs over 300 people.

The vans named; Pickford, Walker, Stones, Maguire, Trippier, Young, Henderson, Alli, Lingard, Sterling and Kane are now ready for kick off and will be bringing groceries to homes across London.

Adam Shinebroom, GSM at the Asda home shopping centre in Dartford, said: “World Cup fever has well and truly landed and we know our customers and colleagues are really enjoying all the excitement. We wanted to show our appreciation for the team and what better way than renaming 11 of our new vans in their honour.

The renaming of the vans is the latest addition to Asda’s Operation ‘It’s coming Home’ which was launched in Asda’ Southgate store last week. The initiative offers all Asda colleagues the opportunity to work with their store to make a shift substitution wherever possible so they can watch the match

The plan also includes showing the 7pm Wednesday kick off in colleague areas at all stores and letting those on shift wearing their World Cup shirts.

Since the World Cup began, the supermarket has already sold over 20,000 sets of George bunting and over 3,000 bandanas and whistles. England novelty hats, face paint and foam fingers are also flying off the shelves as fans go World Cup mad.

During the World Cup Asda expects to sell over 3 million litres of beer – enough to fill the Olympic Pool from London 2012.
