What a Banger! Asda Crowned Home of this Summer's Best Supermarket Sausage

With summer set to be a scorcher, Brits will be dining alfresco whilst tucking into the ultimate summer sausage. For those looking to serve-up the nation’s favourite BBQ staple, olive magazine has announced the winners of its annual Summer Supermarket Awards, crowing Asda home of this summer’s Best Barbecue Banger with its Extra Special Hot & Smoky Hot Dog Sausages.

This summer, the olive team tested 16 categories to showcase products that will help consumers take full advantage of outdoor dining, whilst saving them time in the kitchen.

Following this year’s blind tasting, Asda won gold in four categories, including: Best BBQ Condiment, Best BBQ Banger, Best Show-Off Salad and Best Ice-Cream. The wins did not stop there, with Asda securing silver in three categories, including Best BBQ Chicken Wings, Best Fancy Sausage Roll and Best Burger Bun and bronze in one*, for Best Veggie Burger.* Asda came joint top with Waitrose, who also won gold in four categories – other retailers such as M&S, Sainsbury’s, Co-op and Ocado also took part but Asda proved it’s the one stop shop for products this summer.

Prepared with tender British prime Pork, smoked paprika and cayenne pepper, Asda’s winning Extra Special 4 Smoky Hot Dog Sausages are priced at just £2.25 (or 2 for £4), offering customers the best bangers for their buck without compromising on quality or flavour. The delicious ready-made barbecue solution was named by olive as a juicy “hot dog/sausage hybrid”, beating Waitrose with its Triple Oak Smoked Sausages priced at £4, the same price as 2 Asda packs*.*
