Asda triumphs in the battle for cheapest Christmas shopping basket – for seventh year in a row!

· For a seventh year, The Grocer recognised Asda as Britain’s lowest-priced supermarket at Christmas
· Asda Christmas basket was £6.44 less than its nearest competitor
· Asda offers the lowest price on 19 items

Asda has been recognised as the most cost-effective Christmas shopping basket in The Grocer’s review of 33 festive goodies - for the seventh consecutive year.

The Asda total shopping basket of 33 items, containing all the necessary food for a Christmas dinner, costs £6.44 less than its closest rival.

The survey found that Asda’s Yuletide basket totalled £91.22, outshining runner-up Morrisons at £97.66 and was £6.71 more affordable than Tesco, which came in third. Asda offered the lowest price on a total of 19 items. Three included festive favourites: pickled onions, smoked salmon, and turkey crown, which at £12 was £3 cheaper than Tesco, £5 cheaper than Morrisons and Waitrose, and £5.50 cheaper than Sainsbury's.

A spokesperson for Asda said, "We’re over the moon to have won the lowest-priced Christmas basket for a seventh year in a row. With everything from delicious vegan centrepieces to big brands at the lowest prices, Asda has something for everyone, helping to make this Christmas extra special."
