The data from Asda's April 2020 Income Tracker also showed;

Family spending power fell by 0.6% in the year to March 2020, marking the first decrease since December 2017 and the joint-worst performance since April 2017
Wage growth slowed for the seventh consecutive month, according to the latest data from the Office for National Statistics (ONS)
Inflation, as measured by the Consumer Price Index (CPI), was down slightly at 1.5% in March, having stood at 1.7% in February
The largest positive contributions to inflation stemmed from the Restaurants & Hotels and Housing & Utilities categories, contributing 0.25 and 0.22 percentage points to the headline inflation rate
