The data from Asda's May 2020 Income Tracker also showed;

• The Asda Income Tracker was £2.29 a week lower in April 2020 than a year before

• Wage growth slowed for the eighth consecutive month, according to the latest data from the Office for National Statistics

• The employment rate was up to a record high of 76.6% in the three months to March

• Inflation, as measured by the Consumer Price Index, fell to 0.8% in April, having stood at 1.5% in March. This is the lowest rate of inflation recorded since August 2016
