
Leading supermarket Asda announces the early launch of its Christmas range. Last week on the 3rd of September the first Christmas product, mince pies, landed in Asda stores. This Wednesday 9th September customers will be able to start to plan their festive homes and gardens with the early online launch of Christmas decorations, trees and lights.
Every year Asda sees customers shopping earlier and earlier and this year, the range launches online earlier than ever before, with selected lines being able to order from this Wednesday and more of the range available to pre-order over the coming weeks. This selected range will mark the official start of Christmas for the retailer.
From this Wednesday customers will be able to search early and save items for later with all items available to buy from the end of September. The initial range will include selected Christmas trees, decorations, as well as indoor and outdoor lighting, with the full range being available the first week in October.
Key pieces in the early range include the 6ft Snowy Flocked Tree at only £35, or a 7ft Pre-lit Flocked Tree for £x perfect for any home this Christmas. The early collection will also include some of the novelty baubles that Asda know their customers love. From a Retro Cassette bauble, Santa in a cup to a flying pig novelty bauble all from £1.50, these are the perfect decorations for every home.
Following on from the extremely popular outdoor sausage dog light, this year Asda is launching the new Sausage dog light, this time the design has been updated with the dog wearing both antlers and a cosy Christmas jumper. The range of novelty outdoor lights has been extended to include a waving yeti, flamingo, dinosaur and of course a skiing Santa. Lights will be priced from £25.
Following the lockdown over recent months, a recent Foresight Factory survey* has found that 55% of British consumers bought home, garden, pet and DIY products online, which is an increase of 50% when compared to before lockdown. Showing the shift of customers moving towards shopping online, this year with this set to rise in the run up to the festive season.
This trend is reflected on the retailer’s website searches with more and more customers searching for Christmas product earlier this year. The specific tree and bauble products are exactly what customers are looking for. Over the month of August there was a 520% increase in the number of searches for “Christmas Accessories” online when compared with the same period in 2019, and searches for “Christmas Trees” increased by 110% year on year.
