Meat free festivities: Asda launches STUNNING vegan Beefless Wellington for a perfect plant-based centrepiece

Those catering for a plant-based Christmas this year need look no further, as Asda has just announced the launch of its Extra Special Beefless Wellington and vegan trimmings selection. With an estimated 14% of UK adults following a meat-free diet and a further 12% planning on giving up meat this year, Asda’s vegan options are set to be a welcome addition for many.

A vegan alternative to the classic Beef Wellington, Asda’s Extra Special Beefless Wellington is the perfect showstopper for plant-based diners. A soya based “beef” filling is layered with a topping of flavoursome mushroom duxelle, before being hand-wrapped in a vegan puff pastry with an intricate latticed pattern. The Extra Special Beefless Wellington is available in stores and online now and is priced at £5.

For ultimate ease on the big day, Asda has also launched a vegan trimmings selection to accompany the centrepiece. The Extra Special Vegan Trimmings Selection is an 18-piece platter with all the classics, minus the meat, including cranberry and chestnut stuffing balls, red onion cocktail sausages and pigs in blankets.

Priced at just £3.50 and available in stores or to order online now, the vegan selection is ideal for plant-based Christmas party guests, or to put away for the big day.

This year’s Christmas food range from Asda is its most accessible to date, with more than 200 vegan or free-from products available. The range features a variety of vegan cheeses, party food and stunning centrepieces, such as the Nut Roast with a Blood Orange Glaze.

What’s more, Asda was recently crowned Vegan Retailer of the Year at this year’s Quality Food Awards, with products like the Vegan Cranberry and Chestnut Wreath receiving a win and the Extra Special Vegan Chocolate Torte being highly commended.
