Asda bolsters leadership team with new senior hires

Asda has today announced the appointment of two new senior leaders with extensive retail and grocery experience to help drive its growth ambitions in 2025.

Lauren Lepley joins in early December from Morrisons as Vice President Central Operations and Mark Henry will join in January from M&S as Vice President Retail South, with responsibility for Asda’s southern store operations.

Both Lauren and Mark will report to Asda’s new Chief Operations Officer Matt Heslop, who joins the business in January.

Lauren has more than 14 years’ grocery sector experience with Tesco and Morrisons, where she was formerly Group Supply Chain Director, with full end to end accountability for the company’s supply chain operations.

Mark brings over 25 years operational experience to Asda, including international experience as Chief Operating Officer at Lidl Finland and most recently as Group Asset Protection lead for M&S.

Lord Rose, Asda Chairman, said: “We are very pleased to welcome Lauren and Mark to Asda. They both bring a wealth of retail experience and proven track records in delivering operational excellence. This will be invaluable as we strengthen our business and deliver our long-term growth ambitions.”

These appointments build upon the senior hires Asda recently announced which include Andrew Staniland, former Group Buying Director at Iceland Foods and David Devaney, their former VP of eCommerce, both of whom join as VPs next year.

Asda also confirmed that Chris McKellar, VP Retail South East will leave the business in the new year to take up a career opportunity overseas and Simon Jury, VP Data & Analytics is leaving at the end of the year to take up a new role closer to home.
