The fun-loving quintet – Max, Gnibbles, Gnorma, Gnicky, and Gnarla — jump into action to save Christmas in the supermarket’s festive ad, saving the day thanks to a sprinkling of je gnome-sais quoi (and a fair share of helpful havoc).

With over one million views and counting on Youtube, the retailer’s 2024 Christmas ad and its tiny protagonists are already taking the country by storm. One shopper commented: ‘Love it! Makes everything sound fun and Gnomely – just like Christmas should be!’.  Another said ‘This year’s best Christmas advert. Nothing will beat it. It’s the @asda gnome advert – perfect for us gnome fans!’.

Now, delighting shoppers who have been taking to social media to profess their love for the cast of miniature heroes, each member of the gang is available to shop at Asda – just in time for Christmas.

Go big or go gnome! Meet Max

The charmingly reckless adventurer who’s a lot clumsier than he’d like to be, Max is the glue of the gnome crew and has been (attempting) to save Christmas since the blizzard of ’88.

He’s equipped with exploration essentials - from ropes to climbing tools, and a hat to emulate his hero, Indy (that’s Indiana Jones to the uninitiated).

Gnome-issimo! It’s Gnibbles

The brilliant chef gnome - he’s full of life and of the tastiest Christmas recipes you can find. Often seen waving his wooden spoon, licking his lips, or preparing a decadent feast for all, Gnibbles is truly *chef’s kiss*.

Decked out in chef’s whites, an apron, and a wooden spoon, Gnibbles makes a perfect kitchen mascot.

Gnorma: the one with a certain ‘je gnome sai quoi’

Exuding Parisian chic, Gnorma is a perfectionist party-planner who does everything in style. She’s an expert in party foods, hosting, and elevating any event to the next level.

Dressed in the finest French fashions, Gnorma sports a striped tee, stunning skirt, and of course, a classic red beret. Her rosy cheeks and a swipe of red lipstick complete her gorgeous look – ready to sleigh the day.

Absolutely lush! Enter Gnicky

Introducing Gnicky: the fantastical fashionista and breakout star of Asda’s 2024 Christmas ad who is driving shoppers wild. Taking to social media to sing the star’s praises, one shopper commented ‘I’m screaming, this is so iconic!’, whilst another could barely contain their excitement, simply stating: ‘I can’t stop screaming!’.

As a showstopping drag artist, Gnicky is no stranger to glamour, fashion, and all things fabulous, so it’s no wonder shoppers are going wild for her larger than life persona and statement style.

With her big hair, big eyes, and an even bigger personality, Gnicky always looks the part, fitted in a pink leopard print dress that’s sure to steal the show at any Christmas party. Her favourite part about Christmas? The shimmer, the sparkle, the fashion – mwah!

Gnarla: the gnarly one

Where can you find her? Shredding the gnar! She’s as cool as can be and always goes with the flow. She’s always attached to a wave, buzzing about at high speeds and ferrying gifts around to her gnomie friends.

Gnarla is the epitome of a surfer gnome, with doodled tattoos, a striped beanie she wears extra low, and a golden, sun-kissed look. A super chilled character, she’s the perfect antidote to festive madness.

Asda’s festive Gnomies are the latest addition to the supermarket’s ever-growing family of garden gnomes who are beloved by shoppers around the country. The gnomes are so popular that Asda has even employed a full-time ‘Gnome Handler’, tasked with expanding the family and ensuring each gnome is in tip-top shape when it hits the shelves.

The retailer has already reported over 30,000 on-site searches for ‘gnomes’ this year, but Asda’s newest drop of tiny superstars has seen this rocket by 5,425.0% this week as shoppers rush to snap them up. Leader of the group Max is the most popular of the bunch, flying off the shelves since he landed in stores.

Following their debut in the supermarket’s festive ad, the Gnomies will be popping up on TV screens between now and the end of the year in a series of ads showcasing Asda’s festive range.
