For those looking for a centrepiece that will truly impress guests, the new Extra Special Raspberry Pistachio & Passion Fruit Pavlova Wreath (£7.00) is a slow-baked crisp pavlova, taste approved by the Good Housekeeping Institute. The wreath-shaped meringue is made with free-range egg and British cream. Serving nine, so working out at just 78p per serving, this hassle-free dessert comes already hand-finished with a scattering of raspberries, pistachio pieces, raspberry sauce, and tangy passionfruit cream for a pop of colour.
For a festive spin on a winter favourite, the new Exceptional Sticky Toffee Swirl Pudding (£8.00) is an all-butter sponge containing luxurious Deglet Nour dates. Presented with a festive star shape on top of the pudding, this allows the melting caramel sauce to run down and encase the pudding one poured, to bring the wow-factor straight to the table. Launching in stores and online W/C 9th December, the supermarket predicts this sharing dessert to be a popular choice this Christmas.
Showcasing the resurgence of retro puddings that bring a sense of comfort and nostalgia at Christmas time, is the new Exceptional Winter Forest Bowl (£15.00). This luxury, 70’s-inspired sharing dessert is layered with Morello Cherry and & Kirsch compote, chocolate sponge, Belgian chocolate mousse and kirsch crème pâtissière and cream filled choux profiteroles. Finished with Belgian chocolate fondant and Christmas trees, this is the ultimate showstopper.
For chocolate orange fans and something a bit lighter post-Christmas dinner, a returning customer favourite are Asda’s frozen Choc Orange Profiteroles (£3.00) which serve 16, working out at 19p per profiterole. As a simple defrost and serve, these zesty choux pastries are filled with delicious chocolate-orange filling, then coated in milk chocolate and topped with hazelnut pieces for an extra crunch – perfect as a hassle-free family dessert this Christmas, with one customer review on asda.com saying, ”Best thing I’ve had for dessert for a long time.”
Finally, for those who prefer something different and love a cake, Asda’s Ginger and Caramel Snow Cake (£12) was named, ‘Best Alternative Christmas Cake’ in Good Food’s Christmas Taste Awards 2024. Not only has it been recognised for its quality in taste but at 75p per serving, customers will get value for money if they’re looking for a delicious and affordable centrepiece for a group as large as 16. The striking three-tier Madeira and gingerbread flavoured sponge cake includes layers of caramel sauce. Covered with vanilla frosting and adorned with a festive snow scene including a sweet melt gingerbread house and wintry trees and stars, this is sure to be a crowd pleaser.
Asda’s festive dessert range is available now in stores and online, with the Exceptional Winter Forest Bowl and Exceptional Sticky Toffee Swirl Pudding launching W/C 9th December.
