Asda announces 14 product Christmas Dinner - including prawn cocktail starters, a whole turkey, trimmings, dessert AND festive fizz for just under £8.50 per head
Including prosecco, pigs in blankets, a delicious yule log dessert and a whole fresh British turkey!
The offer comes after the retailer announced shoppers can bag 8p veg for the big day.
With 69% Brits admitting to being worried about the cost of Christmas*, Asda has market-leading prices on delicious festive options, making Christmas more affordable for families this year.
To start, shoppers can enjoy Asda Delicious Prawn Cocktail (£2) ready-to-eat, succulent prawns in a creamy cocktail sauce. Serving 2 per pot, this works out at £1 per head.
With over 60% of Brits planning to enjoy turkey as part of the big day**, Asda’s British Whole Turkey (fresh Class A) is just £3 per KG - cheaper this year, than it was in 2023. With an average weight of 5.25kg (total £15.75, 6-8 servings typically), this works out at £1.96 per serve. Providing perfect leftovers for a ‘boxing day’ sandwich.
For the all-important sides, Asda has announced even further reductions to its key Christmas veg lines which are now 8p until 24th December 2024, to support families with the big Christmas shop.
The incredible offer (which includes 2kg potatoes) is accessible to all shoppers – no member pricing or need for a loyalty card. Customers can get 1kg carrots, 500g sprouts, 360g broccoli, 500g parsnips and for the first time 2kg potatoes for just 8p each until Christmas Eve. Costing 50p total.
Asda can also offer cheap prices on the trimmings. A variety of gravy granules, including Onion Gravy Granules and Vegetable Gravy Granules (£1, 200g). Just add water for rich and delicious gravy. Providing 60 servings, so plenty for the gravy-hoggers.
Shoppers can also bag the Just Essentials Sage and Onion Stuffing Mix Stuffing (85g, 30p). Serving between 3-5 people, reviews online say, “this is just as good as more expensive brands” and “made lovely stuffing balls. Would buy again!”
For £2.25, shoppers can enjoy 12 Maple Pigs in Blankets (228g). Working out at just under 20p per serve, shoppers can enjoy seasoned pork sausages, wrapped in maple streaky bacon with sugar and spice sprinkle.
Controversial for a Christmas dinner, but for those who see it as an essential, Asda 12 Golden Yorkshire Puddings (220g) cost just 95p, costing just under 8p per pud. One five-star review online says, “Fluffy clouds of joy that make every roast dinner feel like a celebration! With a crisp exterior that gives way to a soft, airy center, they soak up gravy better than a sponge at a water park.”
For dessert, shoppers can bag the Chocolate Fudge Yule Log, for £5. A soft chocolate flavoured sponge, topped with dark chocolate fudge icing. With 8 servings at 60p per serve, it’s the perfect sweet treat for people to enjoy second helpings. It can also be served with Asda’s rich and smooth Fresh Single Cream (£1.20, 300g).
For a drop of festive fizz, shoppers can enjoy Prosecco Spumante Extra Dry (was £6.00, now £5) - a delicious sparkler with zesty lemon, pear and apple fruit flavours, one five-star review online says, “feels like champagne when served”. With the 75cl bottle serving six, this works out just over 80p per glass.
Shopping all the above, customers will pay a total of £33.95, and it will serve a family of four – with leftovers for boxing day. That works out at just under £8.50 per person and includes starters, mains and sides, dessert and a glass of fizz.
