As the Christmas Seasonal aisle launches in Asda stores, giving customers their first taste of Christmas, the retailer announces its new, dividng, festive crisp flavour for 2024 - Extra Special Roasted Camembert & Garlic. It’s expected to get customers talking!

With creamy notes from the camembert, combined with the distinctive taste of garlic, the new flavour is earthy and fragrant. Tapping in to the ‘Gourmet Fast Food’ trend, shoppers can enjoy global touches and luxe ingredients as part of their Christmas shop in 2024.

As a nation that loves both crisps and cheese – Asda's new flavour combination is set to be a winning recipe. According to a recent YouGov report, savoury snacks are the most preferred choice among Britons, with 41% of us eating crisps on a weekly basis and 61% of those opting for a savoury and herbal combination. As well as that, a report by Mintel on the ‘World’s Cheesiest Nations’ reveals that Britain is ranked number six, with 90,000 Google searches monthly for ‘cheese’.

Last year, Asda sold over 287,000 packs of Extra Special festive crisps and is expecting to sell almost double that in 2024, with total sales predictions at 528,000. With around 120 crisps per bag – that measures as a whopping 63,360,000 crisps!

The new flavour joins other festive faves from the Extra Special range; Beef & Red Wine Gravy and Pigs in Blankets. Expected to sell 240,000 packets over the 2024 festive period, the Extra Special Pigs in Blankets have racked up five-star customer reviews online, saying “huge hit in my house” and “they really do taste like pigs in blankets, I love how much flavour they have.”

All three flavours from the Extra Special range are made with British potatoes for a thicker cut and hand cooked for extra crunch. As a 150g size bag, they are perfect for a festive gathering and are priced at £1.35.
