New for 2024, the Extra Special Extra Thick Fruit & Hazelnut Milk Chocolate Egg (£8) is a sumptuous blend of extra thick Belgian milk chocolate, flavoured with Piedmont hazelnut paste and studded with sweet golden raisins and crunchy hazelnuts.
In response to customer shopping trends, the Extra Special Orange & Ginger Dark Chocolate Egg (£8) has been created for 2024 as a twist on the classic chocolate orange flavour. This egg is an irresistible blend of Belgian dark chocolate, infused with Valencia orange oil and powdered ginger, and scattered with sweet orange pieces and cocoa nibs.
As a top seller in 2023, the Extra Special Extra Thick Honeycomb, Pretzel & Caramel Milk Chocolate Egg (£8) is infused with sea salted caramel flavour and scattered with caramel, honeycomb and pretzel pieces, and hand-decorated with an infusion of milk and white chocolate. As an improved line for 2024, it's also finished with fleur de sel sea salt for extra flavour and crunch.
For the white-chocolate lovers, the Extra Special Extra Thick Raspberry & Marshmallow White (£8) Chocolate Egg is an extra thick Belgian white chocolate option, studded with a sprinkling of raspberries and marshmallows.
With customer reviews on Asda.com that say, “this is the best Easter egg I have ever had”, the Extra Special Free from Dark Chocolate Egg with Vanilla Flavour Truffles (£6.50) is a Free From Chocolate Egg, prepared with smooth Belgian dark chocolate and rich cocoa nibs and paired with decadent dark chocolate truffles, filled with vanilla flavour fondant centres.
Sarah Burns, Product Development Manager for Confectionary at Asda, says, “Asda’s Extra Special Easter egg range is for those customers who want a luxury option – for themselves or as a gift for family and friends.
“The range is rich in flavour and quality and a real treat – the eggs are made with Belgian chocolate, are hand-decorated and include ingredients of provenance such as Valencian orange oil, Piedmont hazelnut paste and fleur de sel sea salt. The milk and white Easter eggs are extra thick, which gives a wonderful texture.
“The orange and ginger flavour is a twist on chocolate orange, which is hugely popular in confectionery. Last year, customers loved the milk pretzel egg and so for 2024 we’ve brought it back and added fleur de sel sea salt – a luxurious finishing salt, which provides a full, complex flavour and a bit of added crunch.
“We’re expecting a sales uplift of 40% from 2023, with milk chocolate usually proving to be the most popular choice.”
