  • Asda Rewards customers will receive 60p in their Cashpot for every can purchased.

  • Kirkstall Brewery bring back Best Yorkshire Bitter brand from 60 years ago.

As part of Asda’s 60th birthday celebrations, the retailer has announced a collaboration with Leeds based Kirkstall Brewery to bring back their ‘Best Yorkshire Bitter’ brand that was originally brewed in the 60’s to commemorate Asda’s 60th Birthday.

The individual can is priced at £1.97 with a 4.5% abv and is available in over 300 Asda stores. Asda rewards customers will receive a 60p bonus in their cashpot for every can purchased.

Kirkstall's Best Yorkshire Bitter is inspired by the bitter produced by Bentley's Yorkshire Breweries, which brewed its beers at the original Kirkstall Brewery on Broad Lane in Leeds. Kirkstall incorporated the original Asda Queens store logo into its design for the cans, which resurrects a brand dating back to the 1960s, when Asda began. 'BYB' is a classic Yorkshire Best Bitter - full-bodied and smooth, with a balanced malt profile and distinctive hop character.

Ryan Truswell, Asda’s Ale and Cider Buying Manger said: “It’s an honour to partner with Leeds based Kirkstall Brewery to bring our customers this commemorative ale to celebrate Asda’s 60th Birthday. We both have a rich heritage here in Yorkshire and what better way to celebrate than with this limited-edition Yorkshire Best Bitter – originally brewed in the 60’s. It’s the perfect collaboration to say – cheers to 60 years.”

Kirkstall founder Steve Holt said: "Kirkstall shares a history with both Asda and Bentley's Yorkshire Breweries (known as BYB). We've been trading with Asda for many years now, and the original BYB beers were brewed at the historic Kirkstall site near Kirkstall Bridge. It's a real honour to be able to resurrect the brand and celebrate 60 years of Asda."
